Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole

Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole is a simple weeknight dinner recipe the whole family will enjoy. This casserole starts with a base of hamburger meat tossed with diced onions, crumbled bacon, mayo, ketchup, and mustard, topped with shredded cheese and tater tots.

Ingredients 

• 2 lbs lean ground beef
• 1 cup diced yellow onion
• 1 cup real bacon bits
• 1/2 cup mayo
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1/4 cup mustard
• 1 tsp salt
• 1 tsp pepper
• 1 tbsp onion powder
• 1 tbsp garlic powder
• 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
• 24 oz frozen tater tots

Topping

• 1 cup shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
• 1/4 cup real bacon bits

Bacon Cheeseburger Tater Tot Casserole

Instruction:

1. Preheat the oven to 400F.
2. Dump ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat along with a dab of margarine or butter. Add the diced onions to the pan along with the minced meat and sauté.
3. Drain the ground beef well.
4. When the ground beef is cooked, remove the frying pan from the heat and remove excess fat.
5. Add bacon chunks, mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder to the skillet.
6. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Pour mixture into a greased 9-by-13-inch casserole dish and spread evenly.
7. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the meat mixture.
8. Layer the tater tots on top of the cheese.
9. Place the dish in the oven and bake the casserole for 35 minutes.
10. After 35 minutes, remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining shredded cheese and bacon. Return the casserole to the oven and continue baking until the cheese is completely melted and browned. 6-8 minutes.
11. Remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before serving with a ladle.
