Bacon Cheeseburger Shepherd's Pie is an easy ground beef dinner recipe loaded with crumbled bacon, creamy mashed potatoes, and shredded cheese.
This fun twist on shepherd's pie has a base of ground beef, diced onions, and crumbled bacon all tossed in cream of bacon soup and ketchup, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and shredded cheese.
Ingredients
- 2 lbs lean ground beef
- 1 cup diced onion
- 10.5 oz condensed cream of bacon soup
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup real bacon bits
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 8 oz buttery homestyle flavor instant mashed potato mix
Topping
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheese blend
- 1/4 cup real bacon bits

Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375F.
- Dump the ground beef into a large saute pan over medium-high heat.
- Crumble the ground beef well. Add the diced onions to the pan along with the minced meat and sauté.
- Stir well and continue cooking.
- When the ground beef is cooked, remove the fat from the frying pan and reduce the heat to medium to low.
- Add bacon chowder and ketchup to a frying pan and mix well.
- Add real bacon bits, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder to the pan. Stir until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
- Place the ground beef mixture in a 9-by-13-inch casserole dish and spread evenly.
- Prepare instant mashed potatoes according to package directions.
- Spread the mashed potatoes over the ground beef in the casserole dish.
- Sprinkle mashed potatoes with grated cheese. Sprinkle real bacon over the cheese.
- Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving with a ladle.
