Even gold doesn't get brighter than this million-dollar pie! This recipe is priceless. It has delicious layers of frosting that are smooth and crisp. A versatile dessert, this cake is easy to make and served for special occasions. Great for sharing, but you might just want to bake your own.

Pieces of delicate vanilla cake and fruit. Tropical, lemony, and not too sweet. The pineapple flavor pairs perfectly with cream cheese and tangerines.

Instructions

  1. Mix and bake cake batter according to directions on a packet of 2-round bases. Allow layers to cool before dividing each layer in half to make 4 layers. You can also divide it into fewer layers if desired.
  2. Place the cream cheese in a large bowl until fluffy, then gradually add the powdered sugar and mix (sift the sugar through a sieve). Stir in the pineapple (no juice) and the drained tangerines, leaving about 5 tangerine slices to decorate the top of the cake.
  3. Stir in a dry pudding mixture. Add whipped cream. Add more pineapple juice if the mixture is too dry. Place cake base on the cake plate and spread frosting. Place another layer on top of the first and cover with more frosting. Repeat until all layers are gone, then spread the final icing over the top and sides of the cake, filling in any holes.
  4. Garnish with a slice of mandarin orange. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.
