Easy Overnight French Toast Casserole

Baked French toast is a ready-to-eat casserole made the night before. I love breakfast that is made ahead of time and just popped in the oven in the morning.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 loaf of French bread or chunky Texas toast
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 and a half cups
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Cinnamon Crunch Topping

  • 1 1/2 sticks butter 12 tbsp
  • 1 cup of light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon light corn syrup (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Prepare a 9" x 13" casserole dish by brushing the entire inside of the dish with butter or cooking spray. set aside. Cut the French bread into round slices about 1 cm thick. Arrange the slices in the prepared casserole dish and stack the slices. set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs. Add milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in half. Stir until everything is well mixed.
  3. Pour the egg mixture over the bread slices and make sure they are evenly coated. Spoon some of the mixtures in between the slices, making sure all the slices are completely covered. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
  4. The next day she preheats the oven to 350°F. Meanwhile, gently turn each piece of bread over to make sure everything is nice and coated with the mixture.
